ISTPCanada to Launch Calls for Proposals for Industry-led R&D Projects with Brazil and India

ISTPCanada is pleased to announce upcoming bilateral R&D funding opportunities for Canadian companies and academic research collaborators.  Together with foreign partners, ISTPCanada will launch Calls for Proposals (CFPs) for industry-led R&D projects with Brazil and India in spring 2012. Additional details on each CFP will be released as priority sectors, conditions and deadlines are finalized with funding counterparts.

This information will be promoted to stakeholders and published on the ISTPCanada website.   To seize this upcoming funding opportunity, ISTPCanada strongly encourages interested Canadian firms to initiate discussions with prospective R&D collaborators in partner countries.  To support project planning, please find below anticipated priority areas for each country-specific CFP.

Canada-Brazil 

  • Information and Communications Technologies
  • Ocean science and technology
  • Life sciences
  • Green energy and clean technologies

Canada-India 

  • Biotechnology and life sciences
  • Sustainable environmental technologies and alternative energy
  • Information and communication technologies
  • Earth sciences and disaster management
  • Aerospace
  • Photonics  
  • Nanotechnology  

NEW: As part of the upcoming CFPs, Canadian firms will have the opportunity to leverage academic expertise and involve students jointly with the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council (NSERC) for the first time.   ISTPCanada and NSERC will jointly solicit, evaluate and fund collaborative R&D projects that bring together Canadian companies, university and college researchers, and their counterparts from Brazil and India.
