Partnership Development Activities with China
Within the context of this S&T agreement, on April 20, 2009, International Science and Technology Partnerships Canada Inc, (ISTPCanada) and the China Association For International Exchange of Personnel (CAIEP), under the leadership of the State Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs of the People’s Republic of China (SAFEA), signed a Memorandum of Cooperation for the exchange of Scientific and Technical Personnel, supporting the Partnership Development Activities.
Through these funding mechanisms, companies, universities/colleges, research organizations, or associations may seek support for joint Canada-China activities intended to generate new or expanded research and technology-based partnerships between the two countries (termed as Partnership Development Activities, PDAs).
For Canada, funding and other services will be provided through International Science and Technology Partnerships Canada Inc. (ISTPCanada), and for China, through the China Association For International Exchange of Personnel of the People’s Republic of China (CAIEP).
These Partnership Development Activities may take the following forms:
- Scientific seminars, conferences, symposia and workshops, as well as participation of experts in those activities
- Activities that involve exchanges of scientists, technical experts and academics
The following priority areas have been identified, however, applications in other areas will also be considered:
- Agriculture Foods and Bio-products
- Energy
- Environment
- Health & Life Sciences/Biotechnology
Information and Communication Technologies and Nanotechnology are identified as enabling sectors to the four selected areas.
