Although there is great difference in the size of our respective populations, there is much synergy in our potential to build productive partnerships. Our nations share a commitment to democratic values, higher education and innovation and extensive opportunities for commerce and trade. India and Canada have signed a bilateral science and technology (S&T) agreement to encourage, develop and facilitate cooperative activities between the two countries in science and technology (S&T) for peaceful purposes in fields of common interest and on the basis of equality and mutual benefit. Within the context of this S&T agreement, ISTPCanada, the Department of Science and Technology (DST)/Global Innovation Technology Alliance (GITA) and the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), have established and implemented a world-class model of bilateral R&D collaboration.
